PT-Tutor

Position Summary

Tutors provide content and skill‑development tutoring to students individually or in small groups.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a community college or undergraduate program with some courses successfully completed. If a college degree has not been obtained, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 is required. The applicant must have received an “A” in any subject they wish to tutor.

Applicants should already possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in STEM, English Composition, English Literature or a related area. Experience tutoring or teaching at a community college or high school is preferred.

• Math Tutors: Must be able to tutor through Pre‑Calculus, preferably through Calculus. Must tutor Developmental Mathematics and have knowledge of Statistics and Quantitative Reasoning. Applicants will demonstrate two math problems during the interview.
• Content Tutors: Must be proficient in their chosen subject. Applicants may be asked to produce a portfolio, submit work samples, or demonstrate knowledge during the interview.
• Writing Tutors: Must have completed English Composition I & II with an A or possess a degree in English Literature or Composition. Must submit a writing sample if selected for interview and conduct a mock writing tutorial session.

• Provide content and skill‑development tutoring to students individually or in small groups.
• Maintain a tutoring schedule as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of tutoring sessions.
• Attend and complete required tutor training.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussions shared in the tutoring relationship.
• Perform additional related job duties as required.

Minimum salary $13.52 per hour. Position is part‑time, non‑exempt staff with regular funding. Posting is open until filled.
