Librarian, Reference & Collection Development

- Provide reference services for students, faculty, and staff in person and online, including virtual reference through Lib Answers.
- Provide library instruction to students, faculty, and staff in person and online, utilizing the library web site and Lib Guides, and collaborate with faculty as needed.
- Coordinate development, inventory, and acquisition of the library’s print and eBook collections; prepare and manage the book budget; analyze usage statistics and align spending with need.
- Promote book and eBook collections through the library site, displays, emails, social media, and soliciting faculty suggestions.
- Coordinate library services for Distance Education students, including the course management system, and survey online students on resources.
- Promote library resources through outreach, event planning, newsletters, social media, and other opportunities.
- Coordinate the annual user satisfaction survey of library services and materials.
- Collaborate with the Acquisition Library Technician.
- Participate in writing and managing grants as relevant.
- Engage in professional development and continuing education activities.
- Participate in library organizations and serve on college committees as appropriate.
- Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
- Required to work every other Saturday (9 am – 1 pm) and occasional nights.
- A ALA‑accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science (required).
- At least two years of library reference experience in a college setting.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of library services, integrated library systems (ILS), and customer service.
- Experience with databases, catalogs, and Internet research tools.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Record‑keeping procedures, prioritizing work, and multitasking.
- Proficient in word processing software.
- Preferred:
Instruction of students, staff, and faculty in the use of library resources. - Preferred:
Experience with Lib Guides and Lib Answers; collection development; promoting library services via social media; using ILS (ALMA/PRIMO). - Preferred:
Ability to prepare reports and knowledge of spreadsheet/database software.
- Some or limited physical effort required.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
- Typical interior office work environment.
