Job DescriptionPrimary
Purpose:
To facilitate the District instructional programs in Special Education Reading/ELA, Social Studies, Math, and Science, to ensure instructional improvement and success for special education students. The focus of this position is to provide teacher and administrative support, facilitate improvement in curriculum and instruction delivery, and provide instruction support to teachers in both general and special education.
Qualifications- Education/Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree (Masters Degree preferred)
- Teacher Certification
- Experience
- Five years experience as a classroom teacher
- Support and align work with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the campus and district
- Follow and support board policies in areas of related responsibility
- Ensure resources are managed effectively to maximize resources for student learning
- Actively participate in ongoing development to improve work quality and contribution to student achievement
- Teach and model classroom management and behavior support strategies to classroom teachers and campus based staff
- Analyze data to identify needs and collaboratively participate with Principal and/or designee(s) to establish goals and action plans in response to identified needs
- Observe individual classrooms and students as requested to provide recommendations and support
- Collect behavioral data on selected students and assist in the completion of Functional Behavior Assessments to effectively develop behavior intervention plans in collaboration with selected staff
- Monitor and support teachers and staff in fidelity of implementation of behavior intervention plans for selected students
- Monitor effectiveness of behavior intervention plans and modify as needed to support behavioral needs of selected students
- Provide small-group social skills lessons for selected students
- Respond to crisis calls from campuses and provide individualized behavior intervention to students in crisis
- Maintain confidentiality
- Participate in professional development and training to continuously learn additional tiered behavior support strategies
- Teach in the TCISD Therapeutic Education Center as needed
