Class Summary
To provide instruction within the Human Service Careers Department. To develop and revise curriculum and coursework. To provide scheduled office hours for student advisement. To attend department meetings, training and other mandatory college events. To assist with site inspections by TDLR, and to monitor compliance with TDLR standards. To maintain inventory records and request orders. To participate in mandatory college training and professional development.
To serve on college committees as needed and assigned. To participate in adjunct mentoring activities as needed and assigned within the department.

- Must hold a current Texas Barber license or dual Barber/Cosmetology license.
- At least three years’ experience in the field of Barbering.
- Must be competent with computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
- Five years or more experience in Barbering (preferred).
- Specialty training or certificates in Barbering (preferred).
- Experience teaching Barbering (preferred).
- Associate degree or higher (preferred).
- Competent with Social Media for business (preferred).
- Mastery of course content.
- Thorough knowledge of TDLR rules and regulations, and exam requirements.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Syllabus preparation, course scheduling, experience with salon software, product inventory, and ordering (preferred).
- Develop and follow course syllabi according to institutional guidelines.
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Meet with and advise students.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress in attaining course objectives.
- Attend meetings, training, and orientations as required.
- Assist other department members with organization and planning of department activities including recruitment, community outreach, and college events.

Physical RequirementsPositions in this class typically require stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
