Provide instruction in welding techniques using some of the following processes:
Oxyfuel welding (OFW) and cutting, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux‑cored arc welding (FCAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GMAW), and basic metallurgy.

• High School Diploma or GED. An equivalent combination of education and experience is sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job successfully.
• 5 years experience as a Welder.

• Journeyman Welder
• Associate’s degree in Welding
• AWS Certified
• NCCER Certified
• NCCER Instructor

• Knowledge of layout, alignment, and securing parts.
• Knowledge of work pieces to ensure conformance and specifications.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of mathematics and its application to welding.
• Knowledge and understanding of moving machinery and equipment, use of hoists, dollies, and rollers.
• Knowledge and understanding of safety and housekeeping for a safe training environment.
• Basic MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

• Teach assigned classes in keeping with approved syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials through lecture and lab instruction.
• Maintain accurate student accounting records in compliance with COM.
• Provide counsel/guidance to students when there is a need.

The state of Texas requires all welders to be certified by the American Welding Society.

Positions in this class typically require stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
