Masters Degree, Post Secondary Academic Advising (5yrs), Texas High School Counselors Certificate (5yrs), Knowledge of D2L Brightspace

Knowledge of Early/Middle College High School programming. Secondary Foundation Graduation plan. Knowledge of:
Texas core requirements;
Career assessment programs;
Course content and objectives. Skill in:
Use of computers and related software application programs;
Interviewing and advising;
Interpreting college catalogs, course requirements and program parameters;
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Licensing/Certification Requirements: K-12 Counseling Certificate
Job Duties:
Knowledge of secondary education setting;
Knowledge of Foundation Graduation Plan; and Knowledge of Pathways;
Assess student's stage of development and promote student growth by assisting student in establishing academic and career goals;
Advises students on academic and career issues: identifies the educational and career options appropriate for each student and assists with the analysis of each option. Sets up an action plan for student to explore alternative careers and related majors;
Identifies options for student to satisfy degree requirements; evaluates and makes recommendations on amendments/changes to student's program of study; assists student in completion;
Monitors academic progress of students; determines eligibility and satisfactory progress towards degree; identifies current and potential needs or problem areas; refers student to appropriate campus resources for assistance;
Interprets and explains College policies and procedures;
Assists students with admission and registration; provides guidance in course selection in keeping with student's career path;
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking
Minimum Salary Range: $20.80 per hour
Mid Point Salary Range: $20.80 per hour
