Education and Experience
- Associate degree or higher
- 3+ years work experience with a Fire-Based System and/or 911 EMS System
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
- Associate degree in EMS or higher
- 3+ years work experience with a Fire-Based System and/or 911 System
Certifications and Licenses
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider
- Current ITLS Provider (AEMT or EMT – P)
- Current ACLS Provider (EMT – P)
- DSHS EMT
-B or AEMT or EMT – Paramedic / Licensed Paramedic
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
- DSHS EMS Instructor (or willing to obtain)
- Current (or willing to obtain) AHA BLS Instructor
- Current (or willing to obtain) AHA ACLS Instructor
- Current (or willing to obtain) ITLS Instructor
Job Duties
- Ability to teach/supervise a diverse population of students
- Commitment to student engagement, success, and instructional excellence
- Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse backgrounds and disabilities
- Inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment
- Effective communication skills, written and oral
- Maintain current knowledge of teaching methodologies and use varied instructional methods, media, and resources
- Willing and able to teach day, evening or weekend classes
- Knowledge and skill in computer usage and software as required
- Assist in recruitment and retention of students
- Assess and suggest appropriate learning experiences within program objectives
- Advise students academically or refer to appropriate resources
- Engage students face-to-face and through electronic communications
- Build positive professional relationships with students, colleagues, clinical affiliates, college administration and community
- Commitment to lifelong learning through professional development activities
- Adhere to College of the Mainland policies and procedures
- Attend institutional/departmental meetings as required
- Other duties as assigned
