College of the Mainland is seeking adjunct instructors who will play a key role in educating and supporting students in the Patient Care Technician program.
Responsibilities- Able to teach students the fundamentals and concepts of basic patient care, including basic phlebotomy and electrocardiography, and equipment use.
- Deliver engaging lectures, supervise hands‑on training, and evaluate student competency to prepare them for certification.
- Maintain high instructional and clinical standards, support students, and assist with practical skill demonstrations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties.
- 3 years’ experience in healthcare or Career Technical Education related to the program.
- Licensing or Certification as required by the healthcare program.
- Principles and practices of teaching.
- Detailed knowledge of material being taught in the program area.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with students, coworkers, supervisors, and public.
- Associate’s Degree or higher.
- Experience in medical terminology, bedside manner, infection control, clinical skills, health promotion, and safe practice.
- Knowledge of lab set‑up, clinical rotation, troubleshooting, and equipment operation.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Knowledge of student engagement, learning styles, retention, and learning‑centered philosophy.
- Experience with or willingness to learn latest teaching/learning technologies.
- Record‑keeping procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail – proper cleaning, sterilizing, and organizing of instruments and equipment.
- Knowledge of sterilization procedures and protocols for disinfection and sterilization.
- Technical aptitude – operating and troubleshooting sterilization equipment.
- Time management – meeting surgical schedules.
- Teamwork – collaborating with medical staff and colleagues in fast‑paced environment.
- Physical stamina – standing for long periods and handling surgical tools and trays.
- Strong communication – providing clear updates and documentation.
- Relevant educational background in healthcare, biology, or microbiology.

Physical Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom and lab for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for demonstrating proper EKG lead placement and operating medical equipment.
- Visual and auditory skill to observe students’ work, equipment readings, and respond to classroom situations.
- Ability to assist students with hands‑on skills, including positioning patients or adjusting equipment.
