Minimum Education /Training/Experience
- Must hold a current Texas Cosmetology or Dual Cosmetology/Barber License plus three (3) years practice in in the field of cosmetology. Must be competent with basic computer skills.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
- Associate Degree in Cosmetology. Teaching experience in Cosmetology.
Minimum Knowledge & Skills
- Mastery of course content. Thorough knowledge and application of TDLR rules and regulations. Ability to work with a diverse population. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
- Experience teaching in both lab and classroom settings. Lesson plan preparation. Knowledge of TDLR exam requirements.
Job Duties
- Instruct students in both lab and classroom setting. Develop and follow course syllabus, following institutional guidelines. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner. Meet with and advise students. Evaluate students to measure their progress in attaining course objectives. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
Licensing/Certification Requirements
- Current Texas Cosmetology or Dual Cosmetology/Barber license.
Physical Requirements
- Positions in this class typically require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Minimum Salary Range - $50/hr (lecture) & $41.25/hr (lab)
Mid Point Salary Range - $50/hr (lecture) & $41.25/hr (lab)
