Salary Range: $73,060 - $96,804 - $120,548
Personnel in this job title may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. If covered, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (identity verification and criminal background check) prior to hiring, promotion, or transfer, and must attend and complete annual cyber security training before receiving unescorted access to cyber secure areas.
Given the financial nature of this position, a credit background check may be required, depending on location.
SummaryUnder general supervision, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, practices and procedures commonly employed in a specific area of assignment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides the engineering expertise necessary to support intermediate projects that are generally conventional in nature.
- Conducts or participates in studies of intermediate size that evaluate performance, cost, and scheduling criteria of a limited number of alternatives.
- Applies routine engineering techniques, practices, and procedures in support of operational areas.
- Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations, and evaluations effectively to engineering and non-engineering individuals and groups.
- Represents the Company in intermediate engineering matters.
- Interacts with and provides technical support consistent with the application of well-established standards to other associates.
- Participates in the formulation of Company and industry standards.
- Provides technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and Company personnel as required by specific assignments/projects.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply standard engineering principles, practices and regulations, and economic and decision analysis principles to area problems including generation, transmission, distribution, fuels, system planning, financial and regulatory issues, asset utilization, and environmental controls and regulations.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, etc.).
- Demonstrated good leadership skills, self‑motivation, and good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for improving system reliability.
- Comfortable working in and around high voltage (up to 345 kV) electrical facilities and equipment.
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited college/university (ABET) plus 2 or more years of engineering experience, or 1 or more year with a Fundamentals of Engineering certificate, or 1 or more year plus a Masters Degree in Engineering.
- Fundamentals of Engineering certificate preferred.
- Legal, valid driver's license and meet the company's driving record requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, speeches, and presentations.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and managers of the organization.
- In-depth knowledge of personal computers with demonstrated proficiency in electrical engineering design programs, AutoCAD, Word, Access, Excel, Windows, etc.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving several concrete variables in complicated situations.
This position requires periods of frequent sitting, standing, walking, and exposure to outside elements, lifting (50 pounds or under), crouching, bending, climbing and working at various heights. Protective equipment required: hard‑hat, safety glasses and hearing protection.
Work EnvironmentTime will be divided between office and field, with a majority of time in the office. Work will involve high voltage electricity, computers, office equipment, and construction equipment.
