Senior Process Engineer – Acetic Acid Operations
Location: Texas City, TX (Onsite)
INEOS Acetyls is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support our Acetic Acid manufacturing operations in Texas City, Texas. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement in plant safety, reliability, production efficiency, environmental performance, and product quality. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource for the operating unit, partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Commercial teams to optimize plant performance and support future growth initiatives.
WhatYou'll Do Process Safety & Environmental Leadership
- Champion process safety and environmental compliance initiatives across the asset.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Risk Assessments, incident investigations, and Management of Change (MOC) activities.
- Support Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Own and maintain process safety information for the assigned operating unit.
- Lead or support pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs) and follow-up actions from audits, incidents, and safety studies.
- Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities to improve throughput, reliability, energy efficiency, and operating costs.
- Analyze process trends and production data to drive operational improvements.
- Troubleshoot process issues and provide technical support during plant upsets, shutdowns, and start-ups.
- Develop and implement solutions to address process bottlenecks and improve overall plant performance.
- Maintain process KPIs and operating envelopes to support safe and efficient operations.
- Support weekly and monthly production planning activities.
- Partner with Operations, Logistics, and Commercial teams to balance production targets, inventory requirements, and business objectives.
- Assist in turnaround planning, catalyst management strategies, and major plant outages.
- Serve as a technical resource for plant operations and reliability initiatives.
- Conduct process engineering studies and evaluations.
- Develop and update process documentation including P&IDs, operating procedures, and technical standards.
- Evaluate equipment and process modifications to improve safety, reliability, quality, and production capacity.
- Support capital projects from concept development through implementation and startup.
- Provide technical evaluations and recommendations to support commercial development opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, refining, or related industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of process engineering principles and manufacturing operations.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), and Root Cause Investigations.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex process issues and drive sustainable solutions.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with Aspen Process Simulation tools, Aspen Process Explorer, and PI Process Book.
- Knowledge of statistical process improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting turnarounds, startups, shutdowns, and process optimization projects.
- Familiarity with ISO quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
