Bilingual Patient Access Specialist
This position rotates between our Texas City and Galveston clinic locations as needed.
Galveston County Health District is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Bilingual Patient Access Specialist to join our Coastal Health & Wellness team! In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for patients, helping them access quality care by assisting with registration, financial screenings, scheduling, and communication across our medical, dental, and counseling services.

- Perform financial screenings to determine eligibility for discounted services and other programs (e.g., Title V, Health Texas Women, Medicaid)
- Verify insurance coverage and accurately document patient information in the electronic health record system
- Check in and check out patients, collect payments, and provide receipts and care plans
- Schedule follow-up appointments for medical, dental, and counseling services
- Communicate with providers and care team members through the electronic system
- Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, and the Patient Portal in a timely manner
- Maintain accuracy and confidentiality in all patient records and documentation
- Manage clinic flow and ensure a welcoming, efficient front desk environment
- Generate and distribute reports, daily schedules, and provider encounter summaries
- Support both Texas City and Galveston clinic locations as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years of experience performing clerical or administrative duties (preferably in a healthcare or electronic health record system)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Working knowledge of office equipment (copiers, fax, multi-line phone systems, computers)
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Must be able to provide own transportation between clinic locations
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Compliance with GCHD Immunization and ICs training requirements
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening
Equivalent education and experience may be considered
