We are looking for technically capable Outside Operators who embrace change, adapt quickly, make decisions, possess self‑confidence and leadership skills, and are lifelong learners. This position will work in a Union environment.

Compensation

Grade: ACE-USD-WAGE

Current rates range from $32.90 - $47.00 per hour, depending on years of direct relevant experience.

Major Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the monitoring and operation of plant process equipment used in the manufacturing process. The Outside Operator evaluates the unit’s operating status and performs troubleshooting to maximize unit reliability and product quality. They document operating parameters, maintain communication with others inside and outside the department, monitor maintenance activities, and perform minor maintenance. The role follows all safety and security guidelines according to Company policy and complies with all applicable environmental, safety and government regulations.

The Outside Operator is cross‑trained in three areas within the position: PZ, Acetic Acid, Utilities and Support Areas.

  • Responsible for personal safety, the safety of co‑workers, and promoting a safe work environment; comply with state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Takes a personal leadership role in daily activities, task planning, incident investigations, and work performance as they relate to the site’s key focus areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality, Reliability, and Cost of operation.
  • Gains and maintains process knowledge of the unit and changes to the unit to enable effective operation and detection of unusual process conditions; uses knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Taking readings, utilizing plant data/control systems and observing process conditions on a continual basis to maintain good control of the unit.
  • Provides accurate and timely communication to co‑workers, and works with other functions to improve individual and unit performance. Provides ideas, raises concerns, and promotes an environment in which everyone is treated with respect.
  • Performs minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Places systems in a safe condition for maintenance work through the Safe Work Permit process, supporting maintenance activities and communicating statuses.
  • Ensures proper shift turnover by providing effective written and oral communications to the relieving shift covering routine and non‑routine issues, problems faced, unit operating conditions, etc.
  • Participates in process safety improvement through the MOC process, PHAs, Incident Investigations, and other activities.
  • Participates in training and assists in training of new employees.
  • Responds to emergency situations as required.
  • Applies statistical tools to enhance product quality and participates in improvement teams.
  • Start‑ups, shutdowns, isolation, and decontamination of plant equipment.
  • Understanding and complying with administrative duties for government regulations from federal and state agencies.
Required Qualifications
  • 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Internal Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
    • 1 year INEOS Logistics Operator experience & 2 years working as a manufacturing operator or equivalent in a chemical plant/refinery, fully qualified INEOS Logistics Operator with minimum 1 year of all qualifications.
    • 4.5 years working as an INEOS Logistics Operator.
  • External Candidates: 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED and at least one of the following qualifiers:
    • 3+ years Manufacturing Operator experience; pumps, distillation, exchangers, tanks, etc.
    • 4+ years of active military experience in a technical role; applicant must provide a copy of DD‑214 military discharge paperwork.
  • Must possess or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card prior to first day of employment.
  • Possess a current, valid driver’s license in the United States.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States permanently without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident).
