Nurse Educator
Assistant Professor of Nursing (Vocational Nursing Program) – 12‑month contract
College of the Mainland is seeking an Associate‑Level, full‑time faculty member with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a current Texas RN license (or eligibility for licensure). The position is within the Vocational Nursing program and will involve teaching and curriculum development across the Department of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities- Provide instruction in nursing courses, develop and revise curriculum, and prepare online learning materials.
- Maintain Texas RN licensure, current immunizations, and CPR certification.
- Coordinate and supervise clinical schedules for students and ensure safe patient care.
- Offer a minimum of 7.5 scheduled office hours per week for student consultation.
- Participate in college and departmental committees, attending 90% of scheduled meetings.
- Engage in student orientation, instructional, and advisement activities as needed.
- Act as a role model, providing constructive feedback with kindness to students and peers.
- Advocate for student success, academic integrity, and program improvement.
- Complete any other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required).
- Master of Science in Nursing (preferred). With an MSN, candidate may teach in any nursing program within the department.
- At least one year of teaching experience in a community college setting.
- Current Texas RN license (or eligibility for licensure).
- Consistent, active work experience within the past three years in the nursing field.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to engage diverse learners.
- Ability to integrate clinical practice and real‑world experience into instruction.
- Evidenced knowledge of nursing practice, teaching methods, and student assessment.
- Dependable, punctual, and accountable with a proactive approach to meeting deadlines.
Unencumbered Registered Nursing license in Texas (or eligibility to obtain one).
