Adjunct Instructor - Certified Nursing Assistant; CNA

Position Summary

Adjunct position for the didactic setting and/or clinical rotations teaching Certified Nursing Assistant Course.

Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing with Texas Licensure. Teaching experience.

• Principles and practices of teaching
• Training techniques
• Detailed knowledge of material being taught in the specific course and program area
• Knowledge of student engagement techniques
• Record‑keeping procedures
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
• Ability to conduct formal classes in all nursing subject areas
• Ability to provide supervision to students during clinical practicums
• Ability to adapt instructional content in order to meet learning needs of students from varied educational and cultural backgrounds

• Responsible for providing instruction within the CNA program. Teach approved curriculum and course work.
• Provide scheduled office hours for student consultation.
• Participate in student orientation, instruction, and advisement activities as assigned.
• Coordinate safe care of patients by student.
• Maintain Texas Nursing Licensure and credentials.
• Maintain current immunizations and CPR as required by clinical agencies.
• Model ethical, compassionate, and culturally competent care.
• Uphold academic and clinical standards.
• Serve as a role model and mentor for students.
• Advocate for student success and academic integrity.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

• Current and unencumbered Texas VN or RN licensure
• Clear drug screen and background check
• Proof of immunizations and clinical readiness documentation

High physical demand. Must be able to stoop, bend, lift, and assist in patient care/clinical teaching situations, or demonstrate ability to perform tasks successfully. Possible exposure to communicable diseases through patient care clinical experience. Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends when assigned.
