Position Summary
The Registered Nurse plays an integral role in providing high quality customer service and clinical care (pursuant to scope of license) to facility customers. The RN is responsible for leading and supporting the goals for shift objectives to enhance team efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Initiates and leads team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plansPerforms efficiently in emergency patient care situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting eventsDemonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioningDocuments patient care and unit activities in a timely, accurate, and concise mannerAccurately and promptly implements physicians' ordersObtain data for electronic Admission Data RecordAdministers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments for assigned residents, and documents that treatment as required by facility, local, state and federal rules and regulationsParticipates in orientation and in-service training for personnelAssists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice ActEnsures that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe mannerCoordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departmentsAssists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residentsMotivates and provides work direction (direct, check, review, organize and coordination) to C.N.As and unit coordinators (no authority to hire, fire or discipline)Supervises nursing unit, which includes directing the nursing staff to extent permitted by State Practice ActAdheres to infection control guidelinesCompetencies
- Provides therapeutic and rehabilitative care in accordance with nursing care plan
- Gives accurate and thorough report at change of shift
- Collaborates with C.N.A. regarding patient's current and change of status
- Collaborates with patient's Inter-Disciplinary Care Team
- Delegates responsibility appropriately
- Accuracy of documentation
- Timeliness of documentation (real-time)
- Perform IV therapy on patients within LN scope of practice
- Administers medication accurately, as evidenced by the EMR and lack of negative patient outcomes
- Encourages patient growth and independence as care progression warrants
- Takes a proactive approach to checking and stocking supplies

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a post-acute setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Team member is expected to adhere to facility's no-smoking policy.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a position in a post-acute setting that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required.

Team members are required to adhere to policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information. Team members are permitted to use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. Report all suspected violation of company's HIPAA policies or procedures to facility CEO.
