Class Summary

The LVN (Licensed Vocational Nursing) Program Coordinator job responsibilities are described below. The LVN Program Coordinator is assigned teaching responsibilities and a range of administrative/coordinating responsibilities to assist the nurse administrator in the fulfillment of the goals of the Licensed Vocational Nursing Program and achieve the program’s end‑of‑program student learning outcomes and program outcomes.

• Must meet Texas rules and regulations definition of qualified individual:
• Hold an unencumbered current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.
• Hold a Masters degree in nursing.
• Have a minimum of one year teaching experience in a professional nursing education program.
• Have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in administration within a professional nursing education program.
• Consistent active work experience within the past three (3) years in the nursing field required.

• Doctoral Degree in Nursing.
• Have a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in a community college setting.
• Principles and practices of teaching;
• Training techniques;
• Detailed knowledge of material being taught in the specific course and program area;
• Knowledge of student engagement techniques;
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
• Ensure timely, clear, and professional communication across multiple stakeholders, including students, faculty, college departments, clinical partners, and accrediting agencies.
• Ability to teach any nursing courses in any College of the Mainland Nursing Programs
• Current, evidence‑based knowledge in nursing practice
• Ability to integrate real‑world experience into teaching
• Adapts teaching methods for diverse learners (including nontraditional students)
• Dependable, punctual, and accountable
