LVN Program Coordinator (12 months)

The LVN (Licensed Vocational Nursing) Program Coordinator job responsibilities are described below. The LVN Program Coordinator is assigned teaching responsibilities and a range of administrative/coordinating responsibilities to assist the nurse administrator in the fulfillment of the goals of the Licensed Vocational Nursing Program and achieve the program's end-of-program student learning outcomes and program outcomes.

Minimum Education /Training/Experience
- Must meet Texas rules and regulations definition of qualified individual:
Hold an unencumbered current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas. Hold a Masters degree in nursing. Have a minimum of one year teaching experience in a professional nursing education program. Have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in administration within a professional nursing education program. Consistent active work experience within the past three (3) years in the nursing field required.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience
- Doctoral Degree in Nursing. Have a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in a community college setting.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills
- Principles and practices of teaching;
Training techniques;
Detailed knowledge of material being taught in the specific course and program area;
Knowledge of student engagement techniques;
Record keeping procedures. Strong communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Ensure timely, clear, and professional communication across multiple stakeholders, including students, faculty, college departments, clinical partners, and accrediting agencies. Ability to teach any nursing courses in any College of the Mainland Nursing Programs Current, evidence-based knowledge in nursing practice Ability to integrate real-world experience into teaching Adapts teaching methods for diverse learners (including nontraditional students) Dependable, punctual, and accountable Empathy toward students, colleagues, and patients Ability to provide constructive feedback with kindness Open and approachable for students Organized with strong attention to detail Demonstrates clear, concise, and professional communication skills (written and verbal) Effectively prioritizes tasks and manages multiple deadlines Proactively communicates progress, challenges, and solutions Highly motivated contributing team member

Preferred Knowledge & Skills
- Experience supporting accreditation activities, including standards compliance, documentation review, assessment, and quality improvement efforts.

Job Duties
- Comply with COM and Nursing Department Policies and Procedures to ensure a positive learning environment for student instruction and to support the activities of the college and to attend meetings and training as required. Accountable for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of the licensed vocational nursing education program. Collaborates with the Nursing Program Clinical Coordinator to maintain affiliation agreements with appropriate clinical sites.

Maintains and ongoing relationship with the community and clinical affiliating agencies. Assists the Director of Nursing with academic & clinical planning of faculty workload. Assists the Director of Nursing with program data required for annual and ongoing reports to regulatory, accrediting, and professional agencies, including but not limited to the Texas Board of Nursing (BON), National League for Nursing (NLN), and other institutional, state, and federal reporting entities.

Prepare teaching / learning activities to promote clinical judgement. Teaches theory and clinical components, advises, and evaluates program outcomes Recruits and retains students for the program Is a member of the Nursing Department committees. Participate in committees and meetings and be in attendance at least 90% of the time. Leads faculty in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the LVN curriculum.
