Job SummaryThis role oversees the administration of the TCCD district-wide landscape irrigation program to assure it meets all applicable requirements and maximizes the use of the water resource, particularly during drought periods.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Reviews and approves the design, installation, expansion, upgrades and maintenance of all TCCD landscape irrigation systems, including campus and district central irrigation control systems, to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and guidelines.
- Ensures record drawings are developed and maintained for all existing and new systems.
- Develops and implements irrigation schedules for all campuses based on weather data and campus conditions such as terrain, soils, planting materials, etc.
- Gathers, maintains and updates weather data by season for each campus. Continuously monitors the operation of all TCCD landscape irrigation systems to assure the effective and efficient irrigation of all landscape materials.
- Monitors the operation of TCCD systems compliance and demonstrates the District's desire to be environmentally and community friendly, especially during drought periods.
- Seeks efficiencies of operation and maintenance of irrigation systems and if required, prepares budget packages for landscaping on all campuses.
- Monitors physical conditions of all irrigation systems and recommends upgrading or replacement, if required.
- Participates in ongoing safety‑training programs that cover all aspects of the work performed by the Real Estate and Facilities (RE&F) Department.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the Essential Performance Requirements.
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC).
- Supports the mission, values and 3 Goals and 8 Principles of the College.
- Works under the general supervision of the assigned department leader.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates degree or 60 college hours and five (5) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements, or any equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience.
- Current Texas Irrigator's License.
- Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record required.
- Current Irrigation Auditor's Certification.
- At least one (1) year’s working experience using irrigation design software.
- At least one (1) year’s working experience managing a multi‑campus irrigation program and identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of irrigation system design, installation, maintenance, operations, and repair.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Skilled in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet.
- Skilled with excellent customer service.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast‑paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume.
- Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations.
- Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables.
