Job SummaryRabalais I&E Constructors seeks experienced Instrument Apprentice for one of our Texas City, Texas locations.
Job Performance RequirementsMust be able to furnish own transportation to and from job sites or staging areas. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age. Must not use illegal drugs or excessive alcohol and must consent to a drug and alcohol test when required. Must be able to comply with safety standards.
Must have own hand tools. Workers should be able to: rate information using personal judgment or standards that can be measured or checked; work within precise limits or standards of accuracy; perform a variety of duties, which may change often; use reason and logic; perform arithmetical operations rapidly and accurately; see details in objects or drawings; recognize slight differences in shapes or shadings;
and picture flat objects as 3-dimensional objects. Physically, workers must be able to: work easily and skillfully with hands; climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, and vessels; see well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors; reach for, handle, and grasp wires, conduit, and hand tools; bend, crouch, and work in small places; and lift and carry objects related to performing the job task.
A valid Texas driver's license is preferred but will accept a State or Government issued Identification card. A valid Texas Electrical Apprentice License is required. Osha 10 a plus but not required.
- Assist with electrical and instrumentation installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities
- Support work involving industrial control systems, field instrumentation, and electrical systems
- Gain exposure to instrumentation technologies including transmitters, control valves, and analyzers
- Assist with calibration, loop checks, and commissioning activities as directed
- Work alongside experienced electricians and instrumentation technicians who provide hands-on mentorship
- Support active projects in industrial and oil & gas job-site environments
- Demonstrate increasing responsibility and independence as skills and trust develop
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism
- Participate in and comply with company safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Maintain respectful and professional relationships with clients, crew members, and stakeholders
- Other duties as required.
- Instrumentation exposure considered an asset
- Interest in or prior exposure to both electrical and instrumentation disciplines
- Experience or familiarity with HART, PLCs, RTUs, and calibration is an asset but not required
- Strong work ethic with a positive and proactive attitude
- Mechanically inclined or technically curious
- Ability to work with supervision, sometimes minimal
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable
- Willingness to learn, take feedback, and continuously improve
