Student Resource Coordinator

Under the leadership of the Dean of Students, the Student Resource Coordinator is responsible for coordinating services for students in need. Responsible for coordinating advocacy services and providing case management to students by connecting them with local community resources. The Student Resource Coordinator is responsible for building relationships with community services and following up with students who are referred to these services.

Minimum Education /Training/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience
- Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish;
Masters degree in Social work, Psychology or Sociology; experience working in a community college. Minimum of two years' experience in identifying and procuring support services to students

Experience working in an institution of higher education and/or social work setting

Minimum Knowledge & Skills
- Experience providing case management, crisis intervention, brief assessment/triage, and care coordination to young adults and/or college students

Knowledge of community resources available; prevention and intervention strategies; casework methods

Ability to instruct students and support their social and emotional needs; present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff

Experience working with a college student and community populations

Excellent verbal and communication skills

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.

Strong planning, facilitation, and presentation skills

Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment

Possess strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks

Proficient with computer applications; a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office suite

Ability to prioritize work and perform multiple tasks

Excellent interpersonal skills, follow-through and persistence working with students, faculty and staff, administration, and the community

Job Duties
- Provide case management and advocacy services to College of the Mainland (COM) students

Coordinate referrals to appropriate community resources

OperateCOMFood Market

SuperviseCOMFood Market staff and volunteers

Follow up with students to ensure successful connection to services

Research referrals for students throughout theCOMcampus, wider Galveston County community, and beyond via online directories and direct contact with referrals

Coordinate service-related events on campus, such as theCOMResource Fair andCOMMarket promotions

Develop relationships with key contacts on campus and within the Galveston County community

Track student usage of resources

Maintain timely, accurate and complete documentation of all service contracts as required by college policies and procedures

Serve onCARETeam and assist in developing and/or delivering intervention resources

Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
