Position Summary
Senior Accountant supports the accuracy and integrity of financial operations by managing general accounting activities, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards. This role plays a key part in the month‑end close process, audit support, and financial analysis.
Job Title: Senior Accountant
Department: Finance & Accounting
Location: Realty / Executive Building
Qualifications- 3–7+ years of progressive accounting experience (6+ years preferred or equivalent hands‑on experience)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Quick Books, M3, Great Plains)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with real‑estate property tax
- Background in real‑estate appraisal preferred
- Active Texas Property Tax Consultant License preferred
- Experience working in a multi‑entity, real‑estate, or leased accounting environment preferred, including exposure to AP/AR processes and financial analysis
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Support month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulations
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective organization and time management
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Professional integrity and sound judgment
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Frequent use of the computer and keyboard (constant finger dexterity)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Ability to bend, reach, and stretch as needed
- Some college (Preferred)
- Bachelors (Preferred)
