As a Staff Accountant, you will support the day-to-day accounting operations of Canyon Ranch Austin. This role is responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including accounts receivable, billing and collections, payment processing, commission processing, inventory adjustments, account reconciliations, tax reconciliations, and journal entries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with financial information while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities WHAT

YOU'LL DO AS A CANYON RANCH COLLEAGUE:
  • Support the day-to-day accounting needs of the property, ensuring financial transactions are accurate, timely, and properly recorded.
  • Manage accounts receivable activities, including billing, applying payments, following up on outstanding balances, and collecting deposits and payments prior to guest arrival.
  • Review Guest, City, and Advance Deposit Ledgers for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate account activity.
  • Perform sales and occupancy tax reconciliations and assist with researching and resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare and process manual checks with appropriate documentation and approvals.
  • Support physical cash requirements and related documentation as needed.
  • Process Travel Advisor commissions on a bi-weekly basis, including calculating commissions, reconciling supporting reports, reviewing for accuracy, and coordinating timely payment.
  • Prepare, review, and post daily retail inventory adjustments in Net Suite; investigate discrepancies and ensure activity is complete and accurately recorded.
  • Assist with assigned account and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate and resolve variances, and prepare or post journal entries as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation while following established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Partner with colleagues and leaders across the organization to resolve accounting questions and discrepancies.
  • Prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate degree or specialized accounting training is preferred.
  • 1–2+ years of previous experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Net Suite or other accounting systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong general ledger and account reconciliation skills.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong organizational, judgment, listening, and time management skills.
