Job Overview
Under the direction of the Office Manager, this entry‑level to routine (journey‑level) clerical position supports daily office operations at Dinosaur Valley State Park. The role involves customer service, revenue collection, accounting, permit sales, and automated camper registration.
Responsibilities- Provide day‑to‑day clerical support and customer service for park visitors.
- Collect revenue, manage cash handling, and account for proceeds.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, data entry, and prepare correspondence.
- Operate and maintain automated registration and parking equipment.
- Answer telephones, handle inquiries, complaints, and emergencies.
- Maintain inventory of office supplies, brochures, and visitor information packets.
- Conduct routine cleaning of the park headquarters building.
- Work under close supervision with minimal latitude for initiative.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Comply with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
- Completion of 8th grade.
- No experience required.
- Valid State driver’s license.
- High school graduation or GED.
- One year of experience in general clerical, cash handling or customer service.
- Experience in accounting, typing, filing, record keeping or data entry.
- Familiarity with automation equipment, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
- General office and administrative procedures.
- Basic mathematics and telephone etiquette.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Customer service skills and professionalism.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Handle complaints, emergencies, and high‑volume visitor interactions.
- Accurate cash handling and revenue accounting.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Skill in using an on‑line registration system.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Manual labor up to 20 lbs (lifting supplies and materials).
- Conduct duties in accordance with TPWD safety program.
- High visitation public park with overnight camping.
- 40 hours per week with varied schedules (including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Manual labor up to 20 lbs and occasional operation of State vehicles.
- Travel up to 5% of the time with possible overnight stays.
- Compliance with TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures.
- Non‑smoking work environment.
