Position Overview
Part‑time Library Assistant – Youth Services – Fulshear. Assist full‑time staff at a library reference desk, answering reference questions, helping patrons with computers, catalog, circulation, programming, shelf‑reading, and other duties.
Responsibilities- Assist full‑time staff at reference desk.
- Provide answers to reference questions, escalating complex ones.
- Help patrons use public computers, access catalog, circulation accounts, Internet and databases.
- Support library programming for children, assistance at circulation desk or other reference desks.
- Complete shelf‑reading duties and keep shelves in order.
- Process books and AV materials or other assigned duties.
- Attend reference training and other educational programs as available.
- Study databases, online resources and reference collection regularly to stay familiar.
- High school diploma and 48 credit hours of college.
- Relevant experience working with children in groups preferred.
- Typing and keyboarding skills; computer skills involving internet and database searching.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact easily with staff and public.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift materials up to 25 lbs.
Part‑time salary: $15.00 per hour, 24 hours per week. All employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS). Full‑time employees enjoy a wide range of benefits.
