Summary
Position with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Training and Development, Trade and Cargo Academy.
Locations:
Charleston, SC and Los Indios, TX. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified.
Salary:
Starts at $50,460.00 (GS‑07, Step 1) and may increase to $80,243.00 (GS‑09, Step 10). Locality pay and special pay rates may apply.
- Support training operations by scheduling attendees for classes and managing attendee affairs.
- Ensure all student administrative requirements are met, including travel, lodging, transportation, and classroom requirements.
- Verify travel authorizations and vouchers for compliance and accuracy, and assist academy staff and students in resolving related issues.
- Coordinate and prepare award letters, plaques, and awards; generate graduation notes and programs for ceremonies; secure badges and credentials for issuance; ensure all other administrative requirements for graduations are completed.
- Maintain training records, files, and databases using the Agency’s learning management system for each class, including rosters, schedules, departure information, and grade reports.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
- All pre‑employment processes will be conducted in English.
- Applicants may need to pass a background investigation and comply with a drug‑testing program.
- Employees must adhere to the ethics rules applicable to all Executive Branch employees and specifically to CBP employees.
- Compliance with the Equality Act and non‑discrimination policies.
Experience
- GS‑07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, performing duties such as preparing and coordinating travel plans, collecting and preparing administrative reports, facilitating logistics for events, and coordinating with personnel at all levels.
- GS‑09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, performing duties such as reviewing and improving training procedures, troubleshooting and maintaining training software systems, establishing and maintaining training class schedules, and monitoring travel requests and budgets.
Education Substitution
- GS‑07: One year of full‑time graduate education at an accredited institution may substitute for experience. Outstanding academic achievement may also substitute.
- GS‑09: A master’s degree or two full years of graduate education may substitute for experience. Education and experience may be combined to reach the 100 % qualification threshold.
