Location: Kermit

This position assists in processing citations, maintaining court records, preparing dockets, coordinating with law enforcement, and providing customer service to the public. The employee works under general supervision and in compliance with applicable state laws, city ordinances, and court procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Processing citations and maintaining court records.
  • Preparing dockets for court sessions.
  • Coordinating with law enforcement as needed.
  • Providing customer service to the public.
  • Ensuring compliance with state laws, city ordinances, and court procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of clerical, administrative, or customer service experience; prior experience in a court or legal setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Texas municipal court procedures, rules, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office equipment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in interactions with the public and court personnel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle confidential information appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Level I Municipal Court Clerk through the Texas Court Clerks Association (TCCA) or willingness to obtain within one year of employment.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in an office and courtroom environment.
  • Position is part-time, typically 20 hours per week, depending on court schedule and workload.
