Job Description East Texas A&M University:
Educational Certification & Academic Services Educational Certification & Academic Services Student Worker Job responsibilities will be performed during regular university business hours, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The student worker will work approximately 15-19 hours per week. The specific schedule will be flexible and mutually agreed upon by the student worker and Educational Certification & Academic Services.

SUMMARY:
The Educational Certification & Academic Services Student Worker provides administrative, customer service, and operational support to the department. This position assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors while supporting student records, certification-related processes, document management, scheduling, data entry, and general office operations. The student worker will gain practical experience in a professional university setting and develop skills in communication, customer service, organization, confidentiality, time management, teamwork, and office technology.
Student employment appointments are generally made for one semester and may be renewed on a semester-by-semester basis. Renewal will be based on satisfactory performance, student eligibility, available funding, and departmental needs.
- Welcome students, faculty, staff, and visitors and provide courteous front-desk assistance.
- Answer telephone calls, respond to general inquiries, and direct individuals to the appropriate staff member or university resource.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and departmental activities.
- Perform accurate data entry and update departmental records, spreadsheets, databases, and tracking systems.
- Assist with processing, organizing, scanning, filing, and retrieving student records and departmental documents.
- Support educational certification and academic services processes under the direction of departmental staff.
- Review documents for completeness and notify a supervisor when information is missing or requires additional attention.
- Assist with preparing correspondence, forms, informational materials, and routine office communications.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems.
- Provide general clerical support, including copying, printing, assembling packets, labeling, and distributing materials.
- Assist with departmental projects, events, presentations, and other office initiatives.
- Maintain the confidentiality of student information and departmental records in accordance with university policies and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Complete assigned tasks accurately and within established deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front-office environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Must be currently enrolled as a student at East Texas A&M University and meet all university student-employment eligibility requirements.
- Experience:
No previous professional experience is required. - Experience in customer service, administrative support, data entry, or an office setting is beneficial.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. - Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic proficiency with computers, email, word-processing software, spreadsheets, and online systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
