Court Clerk
Under general supervision, perform specialized clerical work for the County Clerk. All employees are responsible for accurate data entry in customized computer systems. Employees are also required to answer telephones and assist the general public daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities(The following duties represent the principal job duties; however, they are not all inclusive.)
- Collects records, E-Filed legal documents, and issues receipts.
- Maintains and updates financial and records management programs.
- Provides clerical and public information support, including processing, filing, and recording official public records.
- Provides outstanding customer service in the office and the courtroom.
- Certifies records for use in courts and maintains court files and confidential data.
- Ensures proper and timely documents are received, recorded, and indexed electronically and manually.
- Assists in running daily reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of County policies and computer systems used by the County is preferred.
- Knowledge of Probate, Guardianship, Mental Illness, and Civil.
- Must be able to adhere to an extensive group of office procedures and legal statutes.
- Must have above-average computer skills, knowledge of Tyler Odyssey CMS, and accurate typing skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Must have excellent organizational and customer service.
- Ability to work with co-workers, employees in other departments, and the public on a daily basis – in writing, in person, or by telephone to provide service and/or information.
- Must possess excellent customer service techniques.
- Knowledge and experience with legal documents submitted.
- Knowledge of Tyler Odyssey System.
- Tyler Odyssey.
- Fax Machine/Copy Machine.
- Computer.
- Slip Printers.
- Laser Printer.
- High school diploma or (GED certification) required.
- College education desired.
- Minimum of three (3) years of performing general clerical work experience and court experience.
Must possess a valid and appropriate Texas Class C driver’s license and acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment in this class series.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for long periods of time; type for extended periods; regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls;
and reach with hands and arms. The employee is sometimes required to climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch and must be able to distinguish between shades of colors. The employee must sometimes lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, some out-of-town travel may be required. The job requires a lot of sitting at a desk and entering data into the computer with little to no error margin. The workspace is in a climate-controlled and well-lit area.
