About Current EV Motors

Current EV Motors is a fast-growing EV powertrain company specializing in repowering vintage and fleet vehicles. We have developed and patented our own direct-drive systems and focus on high-quality, scalable EV conversions that deliver performance, reliability, and safety. We have expanded our dedicated shop facility in Dripping Springs and are building a skilled team to support prototype builds, customer conversions, and fleet programs.

Role Overview

We’re seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our hands-on team of builders and innovators – in a FULLY HVAC’d – automotive shop / warehouse environment. You will perform mechanical, electrical, and integration work on a variety of vehicles undergoing traditional-to-EV conversions. This is a shop-based role with opportunities to work on unique classic vehicles, cutting-edge EV powertrains, and fleet projects.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, highly organized, problem solvers who thrive in a small, dynamic team environment and are excited about all things automotive.

Key Responsibilities

Perform disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of vehicle chassis, drive trains, suspension, brakes, steering, and body components for EV conversion projects.

Install and integrate EV powertrain components including electric motors, batteries, inverters, wiring harnesses, chargers, and thermal management systems.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and (traditional 12V electrical) systems using diagnostic tools and traditional methods.

Install or modify brackets, mounts, adapters, and other custom parts as needed. Fabrication experience is helpful, but not required.

Conduct vehicle testing, and quality assurance to ensure safety, performance, and compliance standards are met and the vehicle is ready for delivery.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment; follow proper high-voltage safety protocols (proper instructions and training provided).

Document work performed, parts used, and issues encountered for project records and customer handoff.
* Organization and good communication are key for this role.

Collaborate with team members on prototype builds and process improvements.

Support fleet conversion projects and occasional field installation/support as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and high level of purpose and drive.

3+ years of professional automotive technician experience (ASE certification preferred).

Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in engine/drivetrain swaps, suspension work, and electrical systems. Automotive interest and hands‑on experience required.

Familiarity with high-voltage systems, EVs, or hybrid vehicles is highly desirable, but not required (training available for strong candidates).

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.

Proficiency with standard shop tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, and alignment tools.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; experience towing or transporting vehicles a plus.

Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment.

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative team mindset.

Experience with classic/vintage vehicles or fleet maintenance is a bonus.

What We Offer

Work in a brand new, fully insulated and HVAC’d environment.

Competitive hourly pay (commensurate with experience) with potential for performance bonuses, and sales (per‑kit) incentives.

We work as a team here and as the company grows – your earning potential grows.

Opportunity to work on exciting projects and grow with a scaling company.

Hands‑on involvement in innovative technology (patented new products and growing team of talented engineers, mechanics, designers, and innovators)

Flexible schedule and a supportive, mission‑driven environment focused on innovation and craftsmanship.

Work within a community of other automotive businesses in the growing Dripping Springs area.

Occasional Friday lunches with the team. (We love tacos!)
