Young Life is a Christian ministry dedicated to evangelism and discipleship. In all of its operations, it seeks to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mission & Authority

Through ongoing training and direct experience, lead staff and prepare an environment where guests, staff, and volunteers are well cared for, enabling kids to encounter Jesus Christ. This is a support role that works with the Sites and Facilities Superintendent to learn and help lead all aspects of the Sites and Facilities Department.

Essential Prerequisites for Staff (Article VII)

Young Life shall only employ individuals who: (a) profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord; and (b) subscribe to the statements and policies required of all staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith. Employees and volunteers must: (i) be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions; (ii) refrain from conduct that detracts from biblical standards;

and (iii) abide by all policies regarding religious belief or ministry activities.

Essential Duties Spiritual Formation
  • Participate in opportunities for growing deeper in your relationship with Jesus.
  • With direction from a supervisor, develop an annual personal spiritual growth plan.
  • Participate in a culture where the spiritual formation of volunteers is both a priority and responsibility.
Attentive Hospitality
  • Demonstrate a posture of service that anticipates guest needs and responds with professionalism through intentional decisions and systems.
  • Develop a recognition and action plan for guest needs/requests to partner with guests; meeting their needs and supporting an environment where they are heard.
Interpersonal Relationships
  • Build relationships that reflect the character of God with guests, staff, vendors and neighbors to foster healthy community.
  • Participate in interdepartmental staff relationships by engaging in partnerships throughout the property.
  • Offer leadership and direction to workers assigned to you.
  • Supervise staff assigned by the site and facilities superintendent, both summer and winter; this includes full and part‑time camping staff, maintenance summer staff, work crew, volunteers, and anyone assisting with maintenance or projects on the property.
  • Maintain a pleasant, positive attitude toward staff and others involved in the program.
  • Work closely with the site and facilities superintendent, guest services coordinator, and assigned staff on all matters involving use of the property for the program.
  • Cooperate with all other departments to operate as a team and produce a well‑functioning body.
  • Relate to the local community in a manner best suited to carry out the public relations policy of Young Life as presented by the camping manager.
Comprehensive Stewardship
  • Manage with integrity the finances, people, buildings and equipment entrusted to the ministry through Sites and Facilities.
  • Develop and equip interns and volunteers to participate in comprehensive stewardship of the Departments.
  • Support an environment where volunteers feel valued as contributors and as people.
  • Supervise staff assigned by the site and facilities superintendent, both summer and winter.
  • Work closely with work crew and summer staff bosses to create a positive work experience for volunteers.
  • Maintain operating records as required by the superintendent.

  • Demonstrate a desire to grow through engagement in the Individual Development Plan process and participation in training and development opportunities.

  • Execute daily responsibilities with attention to the standards and metrics required for excellent camp operations.
  • Develop a commitment to uphold the Young Life Food Service Standards as listed in the Food Service Manual.
  • Develop an understanding of the Young Life Standards and how they affect the way you conduct yourself with staff, guests, and volunteers.
  • Execute all DIN items assigned.
  • Execute all PM items assigned.
  • Document all work completed and items maintained.
  • Execute all duties as assigned.
  • Supervise/assist with small and capital projects as assigned.
Training
