The Role
KVP Energy Services is hiring a Project Controls Analyst to independently own the Project Controls function on assigned projects. We're hiring for this role at the Analyst I or Analyst II level depending on the experience you bring — candidates earlier in their project controls career will be considered for Analyst I, while those with more hands‑on ownership experience will be considered for Analyst II.
Where you land will be discussed with you during the interview process. Across both levels, the standard is the same: accurate data, delivered on time, with flags raised before the Project Manager has to ask. What scales with level is the size and complexity of what you own — from Tier 3 projects with growing exposure to Tier 2, up to independently running the full metric suite on Tier 2 projects and rotating onto Tier 1 support.
You'll Do Cost & Data Management
- Own Spectrum data entry and weekly reconciliation for assigned projects (Tier 3 independently; Tier 2 with growing independence as an Analyst II).
- Confirm production quantities are recorded on every timesheet before accepting the data as complete.
- Establish and maintain the Day One Budget in Spectrum, keeping quantities, dollars, and labor/equipment hours current, and confirming it traces back to the original estimate.
- Produce the core Project Controls metrics — Manhour KPI, Labor CPI, Budget vs. Forecast Variance, and Change Exposure — on a regular weekly/monthly cadence, with increasing independence at the II level.
- Update the Estimate at Completion (EAC) and ensure it reflects actual field performance, not just the original budget.
- Maintain the live change log for assigned projects, logging and tracking change orders (ICOs) as they're raised.
- Prepare and distribute routine performance reporting — actuals vs. budget, change log summaries — for the Project Manager and, at the II level, the broader project team.
- Flag data anomalies and incomplete timesheets to the Project Manager promptly, and support quantifying cost/schedule impact for changes.
- Participate in and, at the II level, represent Project Controls across all core project controls processes on assigned projects, from pre‑execution handover through project close.
- Build working knowledge of higher‑tier requirements in preparation for advancement, and support Tier 1 dedicated Cost Controllers during peak workload periods.
As an Analyst I, you'll typically support several Tier 3 projects as divisional Project Controls support, or assist on a Tier 2 project alongside a more senior Analyst — with periodic review from a Supervisor or senior Analyst, particularly at month‑end close.
As an Analyst II, you'll typically own Project Controls independently for one to three concurrent Tier 2 projects, or a larger Tier 3 portfolio with informal oversight of an Analyst I — making data and metric decisions independently within KVP's standards, and escalating disputes or unresolved issues to your Supervisor or Manager.
