Safety Supervisor – Aransas Pass, TX

Job Summary

Position of safety supervisor ensures compliance with safety regulations by inspecting machinery, equipment, working conditions, environment, and personal protective equipment; recommending policies, procedures, and improvements.

• Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
• Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers’ health or safety
• Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future
• Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
• Collaborate with engineers or physicians to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment
• Monitors work environment by sampling hazardous elements
• Guides employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
• Provides risk prevention information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing safety data and trends
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written with co-workers, and supervisors.
• Adhere to strict safety standards and procedures
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
• Must have knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must have 5 years’ experience as a safety representative or supervisor
• Must have OSHA 30

• Must be able to twist, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch as required to perform essential functions for extended periods of time.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help.
• Be able to work in extreme weather conditions, hot and cold weather.
