New Horizons | Residential Treatment Program
Since 1971, New Horizons has been committed to Keeping Kids First by providing safe, therapeutic environments where children and families can heal and grow. Our Ranch program serves youth who have experienced significant trauma and need structure, stability, and relationship-based care to build lifelong coping skills.
We are seeking a hands-on, relationship-focused leader who believes great leadership means coaching, modeling, and guiding others in real time.
Position Overview
The Ranch Team Leader partners with program and clinical leadership to support daily care, safety, and the therapeutic environment for youth in residential treatment. This role requires an active presence in the program and consistent interaction with both youth and staff.
This position is first and foremost a coach and mentor to Direct Care Staff — helping them build confidence, use de-escalation skills, respond therapeutically, and grow professionally. The Team Leader models emotional regulation, professionalism, and trauma-informed care while guiding staff through challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Model trauma-informed, relationship-based care in daily interactions
- Coach, mentor, and develop Direct Care Staff
- Provide real-time leadership during behavioral or crisis situations
- Support implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic interventions
- Maintain a safe, structured, healing environment
- Oversee staffing coverage and required ratios during shifts
- Train, orient, evaluate, and support program staff
- Ensure medications, documentation, and required reports are completed accurately
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and leadership
- Participate in treatment team meetings
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards
- Provide on-call support as required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in residential child-care treatment
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example and positively influence peers
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and supportive in high-stress situations
- Commitment to trauma-informed care and team collaboration
