Position: Juvenile Supervision Officer (JSO)
Location: Sinton

Job Posting

Work month will consist of 168 to 171 hours during a 28-day period. The work week begins on Saturday and concludes on the following Friday. Overtime will be compensated at the rate of time and one half. Workspace is located in the secured area of the San Patricio County Juvenile Detention Center, which is a non-smoking building. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside a detention center environment. While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to emergency situations in which there is the possibility of danger or physical injury. The employee has frequent contact with other employees both within and outside of the assigned facility, law enforcement and juvenile justice system officials, and juveniles.

The employee must remain calm and professional in tense, emotionally charged, and stressful situations. The employee frequently must work under time pressures to meet deadlines, must perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and work closely with others as part of and/or a leader of a team. The employee constantly must present a positive attitude. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be noisy and distracting.

Time Position
  • Must be at least 21 years old and be of good moral character.
  • Preferred (a) at least 1 year of college credit in Criminal Justice, social work, Psychology or related field OR (b) 1 year working with emotionally disturbed. and/or violent children or chemically dependent children.
  • Valid Texas Driver's license, High School diploma or GED (documentation must be provided for all).
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug testing.
  • Be a team player.
