Location: Hempstead

Clayton Services is searching for a Safety Coordinator to join a growing industrial electrical contractor in the Hempstead, Texas area. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for promoting a proactive safety culture across manufacturing and field operations, ensuring OSHA compliance, conducting employee training, supporting daily jobsite activities, and partnering with leadership to build a best-in-class safety program.

Job Type: Direct Hire

Pay Rate: $35.00 - $38.00/hour

Safety Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary safety resource for a rapidly growing industrial manufacturing and electrical construction operation.
  • Promote a positive, hands-on safety culture by building strong relationships with field employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Conduct daily jobsite walkthroughs and proactively identify opportunities to improve safety performance.
  • Lead new hire orientation, safety onboarding, and employee training programs while ensuring required certifications remain current.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety education.
  • Perform jobsite inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain OSHA compliance and ensure all federal, state, and company safety requirements are met.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs, training records, safety documentation, incident reports, and regulatory records.
  • Partner with field leadership to develop practical safety solutions that support productivity while protecting employees.
  • Support off-site construction projects throughout the Greater Houston area as needed.
  • Manage contractor compliance programs, including ISNetworld, Avetta, and customer-specific safety requirements.
  • Assist with drug testing, safety documentation, and employee compliance tracking.
  • Work closely with company leadership to continuously improve safety processes as the Texas operation expands.

Safety Coordinator

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility throughout the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills with a coaching mindset and the ability to influence safe work practices.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach to safety leadership rather than a purely administrative style.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.
  • Ability to conduct safety training and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Comfortable working in both office and active manufacturing or construction environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are strongly preferred.

Safety Coordinator

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of safety experience within construction, manufacturing, industrial, or electrical contracting environments.
  • OSHA 30 certification required; additional OSHA certifications are a plus.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Experience with OSHA reporting, incident investigations, safety training, and compliance programs.
  • Experience supporting union work forces is highly preferred.
  • Experience with industrial electrical construction, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations is preferred.
  • Ability to travel periodically to local job sites throughout the Greater Houston area and occasionally to company headquarters for training.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
