Position Summary
Reporting to the Town Manager, the Public Works Superintendent serves as the Capital Projects construction leader for the Town of Argyle overseeing all construction management needs of a variety of upcoming projects. This position also leads the overall operations of the Town’s Public Works Department including streets, wastewater, drainage, fleet, building facilities, trash services, parks operations and construction inspection of public improvements by developers.
Serves as part of the overall staff leadership team of the Town of Argyle, providing oversight and assistance with other functional areas and special projects as assigned.

Job Responsibilities
Essential Functions:

• Provides a strategic vision for improving and maintaining the public works assets of the Town of Argyle for the betterment of the citizens and businesses of the Town of Argyle.
• Oversees the construction process for buildings, bridges, roads, drainage, wastewater facilities and other structures including upholding the safety and quality of the project, adhering to budgets to complete cost-effective tasks and reviewing contracts to make sure that current practices align with the project specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, 3rd party contractors and others working on planning, performing and closing out construction projects.
• Prepare, review and manage construction project estimates, budgets, timetables, resources, safety and public information.
• Visit sites regularly during construction – including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress visits, punch walks and closeouts – and attend status and coordination meetings.
• Leads the planning, budgeting, procurement, contracting, reporting/payment and oversight of all related maintenance and operations outsourced contractors.
• Develops and maintains an organizational culture for the Public Works Department of professionalism, customer service, hard-work and dedication to public service.
• Sets goals and implements day to day processes to achieve consistent high-quality outcomes, documentation of efforts and results, and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Balances implementation of daily routines, seasonal projects and major improvements between staff and contract services to achieve the best and most reliable results.
• Provides planning and oversight of public works facilities and infrastructure including new construction, upgrades, improvements, and replacement; plans and oversees Town drainage infrastructure and related permitting and inspections.
• Maintains effective contacts and relationships with entities impacting or contributing to the safety and maintenance of various public works within the Town Limits and ETJ, such as TXDOT, UPRR, Denton County, TRA, City of Denton, franchise utilities, Argyle Water Supply Corporation and others.
