International

Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme “sanctuary” to A Smith Gallery. Forty‑seven images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the online gallery from March 27 to May 7, 2026. An exhibition catalogue with all the accepted images will be available for purchase. Also, 27 of the total 47 images will be selected for “The 27”, a limited edition hard‑bound fine art book of the exhibition.

The Juror’s and Director’s award winners will each receive a copy of the limited edition hard‑bound fine art book as well as an online solo exhibition. The Visitors’ Award is $100 and is selected by most Instagram likes.

Exhibition dates: March 27 – May 7, 2026.

Eligibility
  • Open to amateur, working in all photographic mediums and styles.
  • International entries are welcomed.
  • Work that has previously been exhibited in an A Smith Gallery competition is not eligible.
  • Images created with Artificial Intelligence are not accepted at present.
Judging
  • Doug Beasley will serve as juror for “sanctuary”.
  • The juror’s award includes an online solo exhibition, the “The 27” hard‑bound exhibition book, and a Gallery Talk on the gallery blog.
  • The director’s award includes the “The 27” hard‑bound exhibition book and a Gallery Talk on the gallery blog.
  • The visitors’ award is a $100 cash prize.
Online Exhibition and Catalogue
    each selected image on Facebook and Instagram throughout the exhibition period.
  • Gallery directors will host a Gallery Talk discussing all selected images, posted on the website’s blog.
  • All selected images will be listed for sale in the gallery’s online store.
  • be published and available for purchase.
  • The online exhibition, Gallery Talk, and catalogue will be permanently archived after the exhibition ends.
The 27 Hard‑Bound Exhibition Book

the final selection will be printed in “The 27” hard‑bound fine art book, which will be available for purchase. Both the juror’s and director’s award recipients will receive a copy of the book.

  • Visitors’ Award – $100 cash prize.
Entry Fee
  • $40 for the first five images.
  • $5 for each additional image.
  • Entries of 13 or more images qualify for a complimentary review by the gallery directors.
Sales

The gallery’s online store will retain 30% of the sales price.

About the Gallery

A Smith Gallery, founded in May 2010, is located in Johnson City, Texas, in the Nugent Avenue Arts District. The gallery showcases both amateur and professional photographers through juried and invitational exhibitions. Gallery Directors Amanda Smith and Kevin Tully oversee the program.
