Minister of Music and Senior Adults

Primary Function

The Minister of Music and Senior Adults is responsible for planning, conducting and evaluating a comprehensive music ministry for all age groups and for senior adult related activities within the church.

This is a full-time and exempt position wherein the minister will always consider that as a "called" staff member he is a man of God and will act in accordance with his position, modeling integrity, character and compassion in ministry above all else.

The Minister of Music and Senior Adults reports directly to the Pastor.

• Lead the church in planning, conducting and evaluating a comprehensive music ministry for all age groups and for all senior adult related activities within the church
• Work with the other staff and volunteer leadership in developing ministries that support the mission of the total ministry of the church
• Coordinate all music ministry productions and rehearsals with the church calendar in conjunction will all other areas of ministry at the church
• Prayerfully plan congregational worship services of the church, being responsible for the selection of music that compliments the pastor's upcoming messages, and meets with pastor’s approval
• Participate as needed in all weddings and funerals to be held at the church, ensuring songs are appropriate for a church setting
• Develop and maintain a superior working relationship with all church accompanists, other musicians who serve in a worship capacity, and those working in the sound booth facilitating productions and rehearsals, and a working knowledge of sound, lighting, video & technology systems
• Participate in regular church-wide visitation and evangelization
• Coordinate on-going Senior Adult activities with Senior Adult leadership planning trips, conventions, seminars, and other travel opportunities as they desire
• Coordinate the performance schedules of all outside music groups and individuals who are invited to minister at the church, acting as host representative for the church
• Maintain effective organization of the church music library
• In conjunction with the Nominating Committee, guide in the selection, enlistment and training of music ministry related workers
• Develop annual budgetary requirements for recommendation to the Finance Committee and administer all budgetary line items under your area of responsibility
• Remain current in the fields of music and senior adult ministry by engaging in regular personal study, attending clinics and conferences
• When out of the pulpit for any worship service where you would normally participate, enlist a replacement to perform the necessary duties, in coordination with the pastor
• Participate in regular hospital, nursing home, and home visitation/as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor
