District Primary

Purpose:

To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement.

Department Primary

Purpose:

Support the ongoing communications efforts of the Office of Public Relations & Communications under the direct supervision of the Director, with an emphasis on photography, videography, editing, digital media, graphic design, and social media management.

Qualifications/

Experience:

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, broadcast journalism, or related field.

Three years of experience in communications-related field required, school district experience preferred.

Special Knowledge &

Skills:
  • Proficient in linear and non-linear video recording and editing
  • Ability to record news packages, video segments, promos and assist in all television media productions
  • Experience in television and media production, related to digital video, audio, cameras, switchers, video servers, video streaming, live events and post-production
  • Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot audio and video equipment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and maintain a positive office environment
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with the ability to multitask, able to change assignments on short notice with little or no direction
  • Proficient in social media management
  • Familiar with data tracking tools to evaluate reach of content and work produced
  • Extensive video editing skills (Premier, After Effects, Photoshop)
  • Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data from a wide variety of Understanding digital workflows and transcoding systems
  • Knowledge of broadcast environment and master control systems
Major

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Write scripts, storyboard, shoot and edit video and photography
  • Organize, schedule, and execute location, shot list, and footage needed for all
  • Design graphics for all related video
  • Produce videos
  • Setup and capture studio-quality photographs and
  • Prepare promotional information materials as
  • Assist in the production of news packages, instructional productions and district
  • Assists with social media
  • Support organizational communications and
  • Fulfill master control, and programming assignments as
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks
  • Fulfill the production setup for live events and video
  • Meet physical demands of job such as loading and unloading of audio and video
  • Together with members of the Office of Public Relations & Communications, develop content to promote district programs, products, services, events, and awareness
  • Assist in coverage of events, including but not limited to, banquets, celebrations, special meetings, and This includes after-hours meetings or activities as assigned.

    Mental Demands:
    Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures and data; coordinate varied projects/programs; meet deadlines; ability to use and learn from technical self-paced pre-certification courses.

    Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
    Occasional irregular hours; frequent and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer workstations; some district wide travel; frequent standing, bending, kneeling and lifting.

    Position Working Days: 226 Days
