Primary
Purpose:
An integral part of the marching band staff, the Percussion Technician helps with rehearsal planning and implementing a percussion pedagogy program in conjunction with the Director of Percussion.
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong leader in percussion performance and best practices
- Excellent skills in percussion pedagogy and performance
- Ability to work with students
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience: Extensive experience in the marching arts (DCI, WGI, college marching band, etc.)
Major ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Assist in implementing marching/music technique in a full ensemble and sectional setting.
- Assist in teaching and cleaning drill responsibilities.
- Attend all competitions as needed by the Director of Bands.
- Attend all rehearsals during the course of the season as agreed upon by Director of Bands.
- Attend Percussion Camp and summer band rehearsals. Dates and times determined by Director of Bands.
- Comply with policies and regulations established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and coworker information and as required by FERPA.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Duties & Physical DemandsTools/Equipment Used: Dr. Beat, metronome, Tonal Energy app, UDB app
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking/marching
Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)
Environment: Work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold, and inclement weather), humidity, and prolonged sunlight; work on uneven or slippery surfaces; frequent exposure to noise; occasional statewide and overnight travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
