What We're Looking For:

Are you a detail-oriented Dental Billing Coordinator who enjoys supporting patients and dental practices through accurate and efficient billing processes? If you're organized, analytical, reliable, and confident managing insurance claims and accounts receivable, we'd love to meet you.

Our Tots to Teens Patient Services team is looking for a Dental Billing Coordinator who is committed to excellence, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can work independently while collaborating with office and Patient Services teams. In this role, you'll play an important part in supporting accurate revenue cycle management and helping create an exceptional financial experience for patients and practices.

What

You'll Do:
  • Review and submit insurance claims daily for accuracy and completeness
  • Process insurance payments and ensure timely collection from patients and insurers
  • Post insurance payments accurately into Open Dental Software
  • Review patient accounts receivable, audit accounts, and send statements
  • Make collection calls and process patient payments
  • Contact insurance carriers to follow up on outstanding claims efficiently
  • Perform daily credit balance and accounts receivable reports
  • Use insurance portals to check claim statuses and submit claims
  • Resolve billing disputes independently and exercise sound judgment regarding insurance coverage
  • Run required financial and operational reports within designated deadlines
  • Maintain communication with offices and Patient Services departments via chat, email, and phone
  • Represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner at all times
  • Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance
  • Learn and implement new office technologies and protocols as developed
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Ability to type at least 45 words per minute
  • Experience with Open Dental Software
  • Strong understanding of Medicaid regulations and insurance guidelines
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with practice management systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive rapport with patients and team members
  • A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong reading comprehension and active listening skills
  • Basic math proficiency and ability to read and understand patient ledgers
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing duties and schedules
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
Bonus Skills (Not Required):
  • Experience using Open Dental Software
  • Experience with dental billing and insurance claims
  • Strong understanding of Medicaid regulations and insurance guidelines
  • Experience with dental practice management systems
  • Experience working with accounts receivable and patient collections
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive rapport with patients and team members
  • Experience working in a dental practice or multi-location dental organization
Physical Requirements:
  • Primarily seated position (approximately 80%) with occasional standing (approximately 20%)
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed
  • Frequent computer and keyboard use requiring strong hand dexterity and typing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone and in person
  • Strong near vision for daily computer work
  • Business office environment with moderate noise levels
  • Frequent interaction with patients and interoffice personnel
  • Ability to navigate two flights of stairs multiple times per day, as needed
