Architectural Sales Engineer Position Overview
We are seeking a highly technical, consultative Architectural Sales Engineer to drive specification-based active sales proposals and manage complex commercial projects from design phase through award. We have a robust backlog of projects where we have been specified and or invited to provide proposals for the landscape portion of projects across the US. Your primary objective is to ensure the companies products are specified as the basis of design and manage projects through the bidding cycles with General contractors and bidding installing contractors.
Stakeholders- Architects and Landscape Architects (specification phase)
- Internal Design Development, CAD, Project Management and Scheduling Teams.
- General Contractors (bidding and construction)
- Specialty subcontractors (installation coordination)
- Influence architects and landscape architects to specify our systems in design documents
- Consult with internal team for technical guidance on structural attachment, wind uplift, and load performance
- Coordinate with custom detailing and integration into project drawings with the internal design team
- Partner with the estimating team for take-offs and review of architectural and structural plans for pricing.
- Analyze complex architectural and structural drawings to identify project needs.
- Communicate performance criteria (wind, structural, irrigation, and drainage) by bringing in internal experts from Design Development, Engineering and/or Estimating when technical reviews are required.
- Facilitate the integration of lighting, audio, seating, and guardrails into modular systems by collaborating with internal Design Development experts.
- Manage long-lead projects (12-24-month cycles)
- Track projects from design development through construction using CRM Net Suite
- Build and maintain relationships within the Architects, General Contractors, and subcontractors
- Deliver Lunch and Learn presentations and educational sessions on the company's products
- Achieve monthly and quarterly revenue targets
- 5+ years in architectural product sales, building envelope systems, structural systems, architectural metals, or related construction products.
- Demonstrated experience getting products specified and achieving award of project.
- Experience working across the full building lifecycle (design to bid to award).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings (non-negotiable).
- Experience with load-bearing systems or structurally attached products.
- Understanding of relevant codes (IBC, wind load requirements, performance standards).
- Proficiency with:
Bluebeam, Solid Works or similar 3D modeling software,CRM systems (Salesforce, Net Suite, etc.).
- LEED Accreditation
- CSI Certification (CDT)
- Experience delivering AIA CEU presentations
- PMP Certification
