Primary Purpose
The purpose is to serve as the primary instructional and operational lead for the Texas Mathematics Academies within the region. This role functions as the Authorized Provider (AP) liaison, bridging the gap between the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and local districts. The cohort leader will be responsible for ensuring that mathematics educators receive high-quality, high-fidelity professional development that directly impacts student outcomes.
QualificationsEducation/Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching license
- At least five years of experience teaching mathematics in Grades K-5
- At least three years of experience facilitating mathematics-focused professional learning
- Comprehensive knowledge of K-5 TEKS and expertise in research-based instructional strategies.
- Ability to facilitate high-impact learning in both face-to-face and virtual environments to ensure maximum participant engagement.
- Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of participants
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to deliver effective presentations to diverse groups.
- Highly organized self-starter able to coordinate complex projects and manage program logistics through proactive problem-solving.
- Ability to research/interpret complex policies and translate data into actionable insights using advanced software (spreadsheets and word processing).
- A collaborative team player committed to a positive workplace culture and continuous improvement through Quality Management System (QMS) initiatives.
- Dedicated to continuous personal and professional growth, including attending required professional development to remain a subject matter expert in the field.
- Designated Point of Contact (POC) for the TEA, ensuring all regional implementation meets established assurances and program standards
- Oversee the tracking of learner completion rates and ensure accurate data reporting for regional accountability
- Deliver high-quality professional development utilizing best practices and research-based information for teaching and learning in grades K-5.
- Facilitate asynchronous learning, including grading participant artifacts
- Provide mandatory high-impact virtual coaching and mentorship support, offering targeted feedback and technical support to navigate the Mathacademies curriculum.
- Create a community of mathematics educators
- Manage multiple cohorts while maintaining strict adherence to program fidelity and reporting deadlines
- Demonstrates technical proficiency in utilizing integrated software systems to develop spreadsheets, perform rigorous analysis of cohort performance metrics, and generate comprehensive reports to ensure full compliance with grant-funded documentation and reporting mandates.
- Provide expert, specialized assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to support the implementation of district, state, and federal initiatives.
- Encourage and lead collaboration between department staff, as well as staff members across all ESC departments, other regional ESCs, and state agencies.
- Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with customer school districts to ensure the ESC is a preferred partner for educational solutions.
- Communicate and collaborate with regional and statewide partners on various projects to align efforts and advocate for regional needs.
- Implement Quality Management System (QMS) initiatives to evaluate training effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Support internal ESC 12 functions and maintain a commitment to professional growth and subject matter expertise.
