The Office of the Provost in Outreach and Engagement seeks applicants for a Director of the Outdoor Learning Lab (OLL) and Lecturer for a full-time, 12-month position as a lecturer to begin June 1, 2026, at Texas Tech University, Junction Education and Conference Center. This position requires an active and current teaching certification in the state of Texas and experience in K-12 programming related to science and STEM.
In addition, this position requires demonstration of experience working with teachers and districts. The director will also hold a position as a lecturer in Outreach and Engagement, Office of the Provost at Texas Tech and a master s degree is required. The position is assigned to online teaching and these courses are offered asynchronously.
The Office of Outreach and Engagement TTU Office of Outreach and Engagement was established to provide innovative, collaborative and strategic leadership and support for the university s strategic priority of engagement with communities across the region, state, nation and the world . Engagement includes members of the university and the community working together to address a community need or pressing societal issue.
The units included in the Office of Outreach and Engagement include the Ranching Heritage Center, the Museum of Texas Tech, the TTU Press, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and TTU Center Texas Tech Center at Junction is home to the Outdoor Learning Lab, existing since 1971, and encompasses more than 400 acres. There is an emphasis on natural resource and watershed engagement, research and literacy and environmental education in the Texas Hill Country.
The mission of this Center is to encourage, conduct and coordinate basic and applied research projects as well as engaging K-12 students in research activities grounded in teacher professional development.

The Junction community was funded in 1876 and has approximately 3,000 residents. Junction is located approximately 115 miles northwest of San Antonio and 140 miles west of Austin in central Kimble County. It lies near the western end of the Texas Hill Country. The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. Junction is home to several parks, including the South Llano River State Park.
The city has several swimming pools, golf and tennis courses, and is home to the Kimble County Historical Museum and the O.C. Fischer Museum housed in the Kimble County Library.
