Purpose:

Provide academic intervention support through the MTSS tiered support system in the area of reading and math. The MTSS interventionist is utilized as a campus support for training teachers on interventions used with Tier 2 students. MTSS Interventionists are responsible for identifying students who need additional academic support and co‑facilitating MTSS meetings three times a year. They ensure all MTSS meetings are documented in the district platform system (eSTAR).

The MTSS interventionist may be asked to serve more than one campus.

Qualifications
  • Certified

    EC – 6 Generalist Certification
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate
  • ESL Certification
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • 3 years teaching experience in English Language Arts and/or Special Education preferred
  • Campus leadership experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of MTSS interventions for academic and behavior, at‑risk education, instructional technology, and Tier 1 highly effective teaching strategies
  • Demonstrated competency in the instruction of early literacy, reading comprehension and foundational math skills
  • Strong data analysis skill set, as well as strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds including, but not limited to, parents, teachers, school administrators, behavior interventionists, counselors and diagnosticians
  • Skilled in working in collaborative team‑based environments
  • Skilled in working with and presenting to diverse populations of students, parents, and community members
  • Ability to provide campus level professional development
  • Proficient at coaching and leading campus staff in the area of instruction and assessment tools
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision‑making, especially under challenging circumstances
  • Skilled in human relationships, conflict resolution strategies and procedures; and team‑building methods and techniques
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Work closely with other campus personnel to identify at‑risk students and ensure targeted and intensive interventions are provided to students who need additional academic support
  • Support the academic needs of Tier 3 students who demonstrate reading and math deficiencies by providing remedial instruction and computer‑assisted instruction with individual students and/or in small groups
  • Collaborate and provide professional development to staff on the MTSS process and support teachers on how to administer universal screeners, utilizing eSTAR: MTSS, identifying students who need additional support, creating effective intervention plans and monitoring student progress
  • Take initiative to support CIP with leadership and coaching opportunities
  • Coordinate students’ learning needs with classroom teachers
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet individual learning needs
  • Frequently communicate with parents/guardians
  • Attend required district and campus training
  • Attend student support meetings, as needed (i.e. ARD, MTSS, LPAC, and 504 meetings)
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, support personnel and administrators
  • Maintain state and local requirements for MTSS/RTI
  • Review all paperwork before submission to ensure accuracy and completion
  • Be accountable to the campus or campuses served
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional and responsible
  • Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment
