Teacher/Coach – Provide appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while also coaching student athletes to develop skills and excel in their sport. Contribute to the overall education program and support student growth through athletics.

Education / Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with 4‑8 Generalist Certification or required training for the subject and level assigned
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge / Skills
  • Knowledge of the core academic subject assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
  • Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes

Experience
  • At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements plans for curriculum program which provides for effective teaching strategies.
  • Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
  • Implements Texas Education Agency guidelines, Board of Trustees policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with student needs.
  • Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the district’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teachers’ aide(s) and/or other volunteer(s).
  • Makes sure of regular, on‑time attendance.
  • Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; shares knowledge for continual curriculum improvement.
  • Encourages student enthusiasm and good study habits.
  • Provides progress and interim reports as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
  • Acts as a positive role model supporting the mission of the school and district.
  • Creates an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children.
  • Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and applies consistent discipline techniques.
  • Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities at all times.
  • Assists with the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community in a positive manner.
