Job SummaryThe Middle School Dean of Students hony‑New Brighton School District is responsible for providing instructional leadership, supporting staff, and fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment. The role includes assisting with daily administration, ensuring student safety and well‑being, and serving as the acting principal in the principal’s absence.
Job DescriptionSt. Anthony Middle School (SAMS) is looking for a dean who can partner with the principal, staff, students, and families to create a school that matches the SAMS vision. The Dean of Students plays a critical role in student support and internal and district system management.
- Lead and support students and staff in building consistent and warm practices in regards to school culture and climate
- Facilitate coaching opportunities and professional development around best practices for inclusive, equitable Tier 1 instruction and relationship‑building
- Organize testing calendar and testing data (MCAs, Fast Bridge, Panorama)
- Support departments in alignment with SAMS assessment, gradebook, and reporting grade practices
- Schedule all students, staff, and resources (Bell schedule, Master schedule, Student schedules, Scheduling concerns)
- Support student engagement specialist, principal, and counselor with truancy data, plans, processes, and reporting
- Co‑Lead Student Assistance Team with school counselor and follow through with behavior and academic plans in partnership with grade‑level teams and families
- Chair the school's operations committee to make decisions regarding budget, calendar, conference schedule, family engagement, etc
- Other duties as assigned
- Degree:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Education or a relevant instructional subject area
- Master's preferred
- License:
- Minnesota teaching license required; administrative license preferred
- Experience:
- At least five years of successful experience teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting
- Range: $46,961 – $99,695
- Salary placement is based on experience and education level, pursuant to the SAVEA contract
