Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Assistant to join our team at Winters Elementary School. This full-time position involves supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children in a Head Start program. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to create a nurturing and engaging classroom environment, ensuring that all children receive the attention and resources they need to thrive.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that promote learning and development.
- Support children in their social, emotional, and cognitive growth through positive reinforcement and encouragement.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Monitor and document children's progress, behavior, and participation in activities.
- Facilitate small group and one-on-one instruction as directed by the lead teacher.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive and supportive educational experience.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with meal and snack times, ensuring that children are following health and safety guidelines.
- Support children with special needs and ensure their inclusion in all classroom activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for nurturing young children's growth and development.
- Ability to lift and carry children and materials as needed.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
