Primary Purpose: The Multilingual Instructional Coach provides district wide instructional leadership to support elementary bilingual and ESL teachers in implementing high-quality instructional practices that accelerate academic achievement and linguistic development for Emergent Bilingual students. This role collaborates with the Multilingual Department, Curriculum Department, and campus instructional coaching teams, including elementary instructional coaches, to strengthen instructional systems, lesson design, language acquisition practices, and curriculum implementation aligned to district goals.

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in education or related field required

Master's degree preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate required

Valid Texas Bilingual certificate required

Experience:
  • At least five years of successful teaching experience in elementary bilingual, ESL, literacy, or related instructional settings
  • Evidence of district/campus leadership
  • Experience in development, preparation, and presentation of professional development preferred
  • Experience coaching teachers in instructional practices that support Emergent Bilingual students preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of elementary curriculum, literacy development, instructional design, lesson planning, and assessment practices
  • Strong knowledge of bilingual education, ESL instructional models, second language acquisition, sheltered instruction, and linguistic development practices
  • Knowledge of ELPS, linguistic accommodations, and effective instructional supports for Emergent Bilingual students
  • Strong understanding of elementary literacy development and foundational instructional practices for multilingual learners
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively coach adult learners and provide constructive feedback that supports instructional growth
  • Ability to analyze student achievement and language development data to guide instructional decision-making
  • Strong organizational and technology skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and coaching teams to support district initiatives
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Collaborate with the Multilingual Department and Curriculum Department to support district wide instructional priorities for elementary bilingual and ESL programs.
  • Provide instructional coaching, modeling, and feedback to elementary bilingual and ESL teachers to strengthen instructional practices, lesson design, and student engagement.
  • Support implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies that accelerate academic achievement and linguistic development for elementary Emergent Bilingual students.
  • Coach teachers in effective use of sheltered instruction strategies, language objectives, linguistic accommodations, and ELPS-aligned instructional practices.
  • Model high-quality elementary instruction that integrates language development with grade-level curriculum expectations.
  • Collaborate with campus instructional coaches, including elementary reading coaches, to ensure coordinated instructional support and aligned coaching practices across campuses.
  • Facilitate PLCs and collaborative planning sessions focused on multilingual learner achievement, language development, curriculum alignment, and instructional responsiveness in elementary settings.
  • Analyze student performance, progress monitoring, and language development data to identify trends, instructional needs, and opportunities for targeted support.
  • Provide job-embedded professional learning and coaching cycles that strengthen teacher capacity to effectively serve multilingual learners in elementary classrooms.
  • Assist in curriculum writing, instructional resource development, lesson internalization, and scope-and-sequence refinement to support multilingual learner success in elementary programs.
